Just 90 minutes easy drive north of Toronto in the Province of Ontario, the scenic Lakeland Region. Mainly Common Carp but Mirror Carp in excess of 30 pounds are also caught. The Trent/Severn System is a meandering scenic waterway with lock gates and quiet lagoon/lake features too. There are a number of bigger lakes on the system like Katchawanooka, Stoney and Buckhorn Lakes to name but a few. Very scenic area, lots of wildlife and excellent carp fishing.
Accommodation at Lakeside Cottages is in five well furnished and comfortable cottages beside the lake where the fishing is good. Boat and kayak hire available. Mike and Eileen run this family owned small resort very well indeed. Mike is a good all round angler and will provide excellent local fishing information.
Cabins have 3 bedrooms (one with 4 bedrooms) and offer full self-catering facilities. They have a lounge, bathroom and linen/towels are included.
The pleasant town of Lakefield with a bar, shops, supermarket and restaurants is only a mile away. The principal regional town of Peterborough, a thriving centre, is a 15 minute drive.
Fishing: Lots of choices of locations on this scenic water system. Fish from the front lawns or explore. Mike will give expert information. Bait can be ordered in advance. Standard boiled maize (corn) and wheat is usually sufficient. Boilies work but no better. Pre baiting particle and feeding often is the key. Tackle hire is an option too.

“The fishing for 2015 at Lakeside Cottages was superb for Bluevale Collegiate Sixth Carp fishing trip in June. I pre-baited heavily in advance for Saturday and what a day it was with a strong facing wind the fish responded with run after run and everyone was catching hard fighting wild carp. More of my special ground bait was required as the carp were feeding like crazy. Biggest carp almost 28 pounds. Mid - August guests Stuart and Mark were fishing alongside each other and caught a brace of Thirty pounders. Stuart 33.lb and Mark a magnificent 35. lb! Hot weather, no wind created perfect evening and night fishing conditions. September husband and wife Jim & Linda returned to Lakeside and were soon into catching fish after pre-baiting hard. Personal bests for both Linda 25. lb Jim a personal best 28. lb fishing different times of the day brings great results Mid – September Phil Steve & Don rented my fishing tackle package and decided to spilt their time between the Lakeside garden swims and some of my local hot spots. With heavy feeding the fish started coming thick and fast and with a succession of 29 pounders and over 34 twenties with the biggest a beauty of 34.11 lb . Pre- baiting and fishing various times of the day were the key to their success! A total of 81 fish was landed great fishing by any standards! All worked extremely hard at baiting and well deserved their rewards. The fishing this year has been excellent many anglers achieved personal bests with the quality of the fish being superb. Each year the key to fishing in Ontario is the baiting and fishing various times of the day like Mornings and evenings are the right things to do when the temperatures are into reaching 30'c great sport with great rewards for those who put in the effort! Fantastic wild hard fighting fish are here and will really give the thrill of a life time. Tight lines Mike”.. owner/guide.
