Big Fish Adventure – Hasvik Hotel & Self-catering is located on Soroya in the far north of Norway next to the Arctic Sea. However the proximity of the Gulf Stream means ice-free ports and deep sea fishing conditions that are usually good. More fishing records have been set at Sørøya than anywhere else in the world. The Sørøya climate can be tough and strenuous at times, but also extremely exciting where your dreams of giant cod, big coalfish, catfish and large halibut really do come true.
In March-April the arctic climate offers tough winter storms along with clear, calm days. Although there may be a few days in port due to bad weather, you have a great chance to catch the coveted trophy fish. This season is for the toughest.
May, June and July offers the most stable fishing weather and midnight sun with long, bright days and infinite time for fishing. In addition to chasing the big cod, summer can offer an intense combat with the big coalfish, meeting the catfish face to face, or for the toughest the hunt for the large halibut; with the halibut population around Soroya increasing during the past few years. If you are among those who dream of wrestling the giant halibut, August and September are good months.
Regardless of when you may choose to come here, you are sure of unforgettable fishing and world class Northern Norwegian hospitality.

Boats are carefully selected to ensure your safety at sea. Self-drive boats are spacious, solid 19 feet aluminum boats. They have 50 Hp four-stroke engines and are equipped with sonar and GPS. 3-4 people can fish comfortably on board, and life vests are included. You can bring your own rod, or you can rent one at the hotel. Jigs and other equipment can be bought at the hotel store. A boat license or an international boat license (ICC) for boats up to 15 meters is required. This applies to persons born after 01/01/1980.
Alternatively you can hire a boat with a skipper. There are several skippers, all experienced fishermen who are happy to share their knowledge of where you can catch the biggest fish. For those who have not been here before, we recommend renting a boat with a skipper on the first day in order to get to know the area and the fishing grounds. The boats comfortably accommodate 5-6 people.
Fishing trips with larger boats that can take up to 40 passengers are also available. There is access to a lounge on board and light meals and beverages are available. All the fishing equipment, clothes and safety equipment you need are provided. Guides are also available and all are experienced deep sea fishermen with an extensive knowledge of Soroya, fishing grounds and species.
