Holiday Park De Groote Vliet, owned by the Joost family, is an ideal venue for your fishing holiday. It is surrounded by kilometres of boating and fishing water with several properties offering fishing direct from their gardens. Fishing is available for pike, pike-perch, carp, whitefish, eel, bream, roach and wild carp.
David Watts from Boland Groundbaits recently returned from a visit to Holland, where he stayed in the accommodation at De Groot Vliet and says:
There is a very good tackle shop in Weverershoof, only 2km from the accommodation, it is very well stocked and sells fresh baits (maggots, casters worms etc.) and also frozen dead baits for pike fishing. The guys in the shop will give you a local map and point you in the right direction of where to fish etc.
The accommodation was 1st class, with everything you need for a self-catering holiday. There's a nice area to sit outside, television if required and parking. On site at the back of the chalets is a vast lake that I fished, after pre-baiting and caught well, it is easily accessible and I fished from the platforms. I also fished a canal, about 1km from the digs and I parked behind my peg and had 136lb of fish that day in about 6hrs fishing.
There are a number of restaurants in the town and a hotel about 500 metres from the digs that serves food every night. There is also a cafe on site selling food and coffee.
Overall my impression of the area was very good for people wanting a nice quite break with plenty of very good, easily accessible fishing locations. There is also a Carp lake on site, but I never got to fish it, but witnessed other anglers catching Double Figure Carp!
Holiday homes are all different in size and layout with properties suitable for 3/4 persons, 6 persons and 8/10 persons. Bungalows and chalets are fully furnished. All homes are equipped with cable TV, a furnished terrace, a combination microwave, a refrigerator with freezer compartments, a dishwasher and free Wi-Fi.
When the bungalow or chalet is adjacent to the (open) water, you can cast your fishing rod directly from the jetty. Some accommodations have a garden that is completely fenced, others have a gate on the water or road side. All the bungalows and chalets have a washing machine, except for the type ‘Vlotvaren’. When you stay in Vlotvaren you can do your washing and drying at the laundry service.

Wilgenroos 8 pers - Seringenlaan 142. Sleeps up to 8 persons in 2 bedrooms with 2 single beds together, 1 bedroom with a bunkbed and sleeping sofa in living room.
Wilgenroos 10 pers - Violenlaan 159. Sleeps up to 10 persons in 2 bedrooms with 2 single beds together, 2 bedrooms with 2 bunk beds and a sleeping sofa in living room.
The reception is located directly at the entrance of the holiday park opposite the restaurant and is open Monday to Saturday. It is possible to buy your fishing permits (VISpas) from the reception. A fishing map is also available at the reception.
The restaurant is seen as the ‘heart’ of the holiday park and is open almost every weekend. During the summer holidays it is open daily. In the low season, the eatery has limited opening hours. Here you can eat, drink, play pocket billiards, play darts, have a conversation, sit and relax, watch TV, meet new people and register for the events that are organised at the park.
To guarantee accessibility and privacy for everyone, it is not permitted to leave your car in front of your accommodation. However, a few plots have a private parking space for one car, please request at time of booking. Alternatively, two large car parks provide ample parking space, during your stay you can park here free of charge.
There are also many sporting facilities for young and old within the park, such as a playground, a soccer field, a basketball field, a carp pond, a tennis court and an active entertainment committee which organizes various activities in high season.
The carp pond is centrally located in the park and various accommodations are located at this pond. You can fish a maximum of two rods per person from your own jetty on the side of the pond. There are also public jetties, if your accommodation is not located on the pond. It is not necessary to have a specific fishing permit to fish the pond; you only need to adhere to the rules mentioned below. Magnificent carp swim in this pond but you can also catch eel, bream and whitefish.
Carp pond rules:
• Pre-feeding is not allowed.
• It is strictly forbidden to fish for predatory fish (no artificial bait, pieces of fish or live bait).
• Every fish caught must be returned immediately with the exception of eel.
• You must not leave your fishing rod unattended.
• A de-hooking mat is compulsory when fishing for carp.
If you want to be on the water, you can rent a motorboat or canoe. If you have your own boat the park has its own small boat ramp, located in the inner harbour. If your boat or car is too big, there is another boat ramp in the village, 1 km from the park. It is also possible to book an experienced fishing guide, should you require a few days with a guide.
Pets are also welcome and a small fee of €30.00 per pet is applicable for the extra cleaning. Please follow park rules regarding pets.
