Cottage built in 2006 on a 30-acre dairy farm which extends to the shores of Carrafin Lake beside the Weir and 300m down the road from the River Erne at Carratraw Bridge.

Inishmore Cottage is a 4-star cottage sleeping up to six people in two bedrooms. Both bedrooms have a double and a single bed and one of the rooms is en-suite. Each bedroom has its own TV/DVD player and bed linen and towels are provided.

The cottage is spacious comprising of a large sitting room and kitchen, and a separate bathroom. The sitting room/kitchen overlooks Carrafin Lake and has fibre broadband and a TV. The kitchen is equipped with electric hob, split level oven, fridge freezer, dishwasher, microwave and washing machine. It is centrally heated and has Wi-Fi.

The cottage has its own decking area with picnic table and covered barbecue area. It has a private car park and secure shed at the jetty with fridge for bait. Hiring of fully equipped boat, rods, reels and fishing tackle can be arranged.

Surrounded by water, which is abound in stocks of bream, roach, rudd, hybrids, perch, pike, eels and some brown trout, the cottage is an ideal base for anglers.

Inishmore cottage is located just 6km from Butlersbridge village and 12km from Cavan town and is close to Killeshandra, Belturbet and Ballyconnell.

Fishing in Co Cavan

Co Cavan offers opportunities for excellent year round fishing in the major river systems and their associated lakes. Bream, hybrids, roach, rudd, tench are common in most waters. Popular centres include Ballyconnell, Belturbet, Cootehill, and Killeshandra. The River Erne and its main tributaries, the Shannon Erne Waterway and the Dromore/Annalee system dominate the middle of the county.

The River Erne System is the major water in this scenic county linking lots of lakes both large and small. Good access to many waters whilst there are still lakes that take some effort to access that are rarely fished. The River Erne will fish well in the cooler months where there is depth and flow.

The Shannon Erne Waterway flows north east to the western shore of Upper Lough Erne.

For the angler seeking large open waters with the promise of outstanding bags of bream and roach choose the large lakes such as Gowna, Oughter, Sillan, Upper Lough Erne and Lough McNean. For something more secluded you will find many smaller lakes and river stretches with plenty of fish. There is a water here to suit all tastes.

Wherever you fish in Ireland, the chances of catching fish are hugely improved by pre-baiting to attract fish into your chosen swim. Ideally this is done the evening before (or for a couple of days) using breadcrumb or local maize meal carrying particle baits such as sweetcorn, boiled wheat, hemp and pellets.
