If you are planning a fishing trip the County of 365 lakes is an ideal place for you to have a fishing holiday. This self-catering cottage is placed on an island on Inishmuck lake - perfectly located for coarse and pike fishing. In fact, it is difficult to think of a better place for fishing in Ireland! Once you get tired of your fishing, the local area offers many attractions, great food, and a fantastic atmosphere.

Downstairs: Double bed with en-suite, main bathroom, kitchen, living room, and your own bar.

Upstairs: Double bed with a single bed, double room, double and single bedroom with en-suite shower room and main bathroom. All bed linen & towels will be freshly supplied.

Facilities: The house has a fully fitted kitchen equipped with a dishwasher, microwave, washing machine, dryer, and cooker. There is a large open plan living-dining & kitchen area ideal for socialising and equipped with TV, video and DVD player.

Bar: Whilst staying in the cottage you can enjoy your own bar. Please talk to us and the owner will provide you with a keg of your choice.

Outside: Tigh An Oileain is situated on an island in the lake of Inishmuck and the massive nearby lake and river systems provide great opportunities for top class angling. You can expect the usual batch of bream, roach, hybrids, skimmers, tench, perch, and pike. For any sailor in the group, a 19-foot boat with a 5hp engine is available to hire at Tigh an Oilean. The nearest village from the property is Milltown and this is two and a half miles from the property. In Milltown, you will find a shop, a pub, and a children's playground area.

Fishing in Co Cavan

Co Cavan offers opportunities for excellent year round fishing in the major river systems and their associated lakes. Bream, hybrids, roach, rudd, tench are common in most waters. Popular centres include Ballyconnell, Belturbet, Cootehill, and Killeshandra. The River Erne and its main tributaries, the Shannon Erne Waterway and the Dromore/Annalee system dominate the middle of the county.

The River Erne System is the major water in this scenic county linking lots of lakes both large and small. Good access to many waters whilst there are still lakes that take some effort to access that are rarely fished. The River Erne will fish well in the cooler months where there is depth and flow.

The Shannon Erne Waterway flows north east to the western shore of Upper Lough Erne.

For the angler seeking large open waters with the promise of outstanding bags of bream and roach choose the large lakes such as Gowna, Oughter, Sillan, Upper Lough Erne and Lough McNean. For something more secluded you will find many smaller lakes and river stretches with plenty of fish. There is a water here to suit all tastes.

Wherever you fish in Ireland, the chances of catching fish are hugely improved by pre-baiting to attract fish into your chosen swim. Ideally this is done the evening before (or for a couple of days) using breadcrumb or local maize meal carrying particle baits such as sweetcorn, boiled wheat, hemp and pellets.
