There's a wealth of terrific fishing around the town of Boyle. The Boyle River has big shoals of bream and roach during the spring and the relatively new Boyle Canal has easy access and its own resident roach, hybrids, bream, and tench. The 'must fish' lake is Lough Gara where there are masses of bream, roach, and hybrids, plus an occasional tench.
Roosky is nicely poised on the banks of the River Shannon at the hub of some of Ireland's best coarse fishing - an area where you will catch quality rudd, mighty tench, bream, roach, hybrids, and pike. The river in Roosky itself has featured prominently in angling reports based on big bream hauls. Roosky is also home to the Lakeland Fisheries - a commercial complex that even has carp.
