Nestling in the beautiful Muckross Wood, on the shores of Lower Lough Erne, Fermanagh you will find Finn Lough, a family run business for over 20 years, located within a magical spot on the lake.
Coarse fishing anglers can fish from the private grounds close to the lodges. There are a number of fishing platforms a short drive away and with boat rental one can access some really exciting swims on nearby islands. Banks are comfortable and it is easy to cast into 10 to 30 feet of water where pre baiting for those big shoals is critical. Baz Smith has enjoyed great catches fishing the feeder into deep water at 40 to 50 yards after pre baiting with stewed wheat (a cheap and easy bulk particle). This is a vast area with huge coarse fish shoals and it is essential to use plenty of particle; go easy on the groundbait (dark mix only) and use it just for plugging your feeder. You can also catch on the pole and waggler but loose feed frequently.
The Erne has to be one of the finest pike fishing venues in Europe; huge water with numerous pike holding features. Coupled with little angling pressure you are sure of great fishing all year round. Pike in excess of 40 pounds are caught (and released). This location is about plentiful action on lures, virtical jigging and deadbaits plus the chance of something very special. Gord Burton rates this water system highly and has enjoyed great action on lures and deadbaits, fishing on the drift and anchored. Lough Erne pike do a lot of tailwalking and provide great action. Licence/permits are not required for pike/coarse fish in Donegal waters but you do require them for Lower Lough Erne and Finn Lough. They can be bought on site the reception.
The self-catering lodges and cottages each have 3 large bedrooms, 2 bathrooms both with electric showers, lounge with open fire, flat screen TV/DVD, patio, dining room, and fully fitted kitchen with microwave, fridge, freezer and dishwasher. Garden furniture picnic table/ chairs are all provided. Shops, bars and restaurants are all a short drive away at Belleek, Pettigo, Kesh and Irvinestown.
