These impressive hard fighting fish are measured in feet with 5, 6 and 7 feet sturgeon being prolific but 8 to 10 monsters are always possible. A length to girth ratio gives an accurate weight calculation.
Cascade Fishing Adventures are our working partners on the magnificent Fraser River. They are based at Chilliwack just 90 minutes’ drive from Vancouver and fish the lower 60 miles of an 850 mile long waterway. Scenery can be stunning and in addition to world class sport there is always the chance of seeing black bear, beaver, deer, bald eagle and osprey.
Marc and Maggie Laynes are the owners and Marc is a top guide. He also employs a small number of carefully selected guides who all have an excellent knowledge of fishing, locations and clients requirements. Fast and safe comfortable jet boats, top tackle are all included. Your boat and guide caters for 2 to 4 anglers per group and with three top guides we can cater for groups of up to 12 maximum per trip.
Cascade Charters provide private transfers (taxi/limo) from Vancouver airport to your accommodation in Chilliwack. Car hire is an option too particularly if you want to book a longer duration and combine your stay with fishing and touring. The area is rich in wildlife and very scenic.
Your accommodation in Chilliwack is at the Coast Hotel. Bedrooms are twin, double and single occupancy. Prices are based on twin sharing. There is a supplement for single rooms. We book on a room only basis. There is plenty of good value dining for breakfast and dinner. Guests are collected from the hotel each morning for transfers to fishing venues.
Seasons:
In spring from late March through to early May is an excellent time for big hard fighting sturgeon. The river has less guide boats and is relatively quiet.
Late May to September is more prolific for sturgeon with a wider range of size.
October into November provides for shorter daylight hours but sport is still good.
Durations are flexible, you can stay/fish as many days as you like. Add in a few nights in Vancouver as a city stopover; take a self-drive tour through the Rocky Mountains; visit Whistler Mountain or Vancouver Island. You can even take a week long cruise along the Inside Passage to Alaska. There is so much to see and do in British Columbia.
