Whether polaroiding the shallow western lakes, sight casting to mayfly feeders, tailing trout or midging fish, the Rainbow Lodge guides will provide you with an unforgettable and unique experience. Their guides are all world class with international fishing experience and acclaim while their head guide, Christopher Bassano is in his twentieth season of guided fishing in Tasmania.
Rainbow Lodge is a comfortable, welcoming, 3-bedroom property enjoying views across the stunning, rugged highland landscape. With two bathrooms, kitchen, dining room and a large front lounge leading onto an expansive deck, it’s the perfect base for any guided trip. And just in case you feel the need to tie up a few spares or even to develop a new fly pattern based on what you’ve observed during the day, the lounge also has a fly tying bench, complete with all the materials you’ll need. To help you relax after a day on the water, it also features comfortable chairs and full entertainment facilities, including CD and DVD players. The library is full of local and overseas fishing books, magazines and other reading material.
On the water, they provide you with a great fishing platform in the shape of a 5m Quintrex Hornet, as well as all the gear and flies you could need. You can even purchase your fishing licence from them.
The guiding day normally begins at 9.00 am, when your guide will meet you at Rainbow Lodge or your alternative accommodation. While being guided, you are provided with all tackle (this includes a range of top-quality Sage fly rods, Scientific Angler fly lines and Lamson fly reels), flies, leaders and other bits and pieces needed for the day, as well as morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea. All drinks are provided, including a range of soft drinks or bottled water at lunch. Wet weather clothing and warm coats, hats and gloves are available if the weather turns inclement. You return to Rainbow Lodge or your accommodation when the fish stop biting or at a time you request, however you will usually be back by 7.00 pm. Early starts or late finishes are possible when conditions are favourable, or if you prefer them, but as the best fishing is mainly between 11 am and 6 pm, it’s often best to have a relaxed start to the day.
Flights from the UK are not included.
