Talkeetna Roadhouse is a family owned traditional accommodation and cafe/restaurant in the heart of this small community. Good value and full of character like the town itself.
The guest rooms range from private to hostel-style rustic cabins to the school teacher's apartment located above the Talkeetna Historical Society Museum. Bathrooms are down the hall in typical Roadhouse fashion. The accommodation is room only, however there is a cafe/bakery that serves huge home-cooked breakfasts, strong coffee, gigantic cinnamon rolls, hand rolled bagels, hearty soups, fresh breads, pies, cakes, cookies and a healthy dose of frontier hospitality.
Talkeetna is a great place to stay and immerse oneself in the frontier history of Alaska. Since it is halfway between Anchorage and Denali Park Entrance, both by rail and road, an overnight stay in the Talkeetna Roadhouse is a great way to break up a long trip.
Alternatively take a flight out to Mount Denali or in early summer fish the three rivers (guided options) for migrating salmon.
Flights from the UK are not included.
