Costa Rica is one of the world's premier destinations for sea fishing. Its location between the Pacific Ocean and the Caribbean Sea provides diverse marine environments, offering an amazing range of species for anglers. Anglers World Holidays recommend this as a year round destination.

Samara, our preferred destination, is a peaceful beach town located on the Pacific coast of Costa Rica's Nicoya Peninsula. It's a popular spot not only for its scenic beauty and relaxed vibe but also for its fishing opportunities. Experience exceptional fishing for cubera, roosterfish, jacks, amberjack and dorado.

Inshore Fishing:
Closer to the coast, you can target species such as roosterfish, snapper, mackerel, and jacks. This can be done from a boat or even from the beach.

Offshore/Deep Sea Fishing:
Venture further out into the ocean to target larger species like sailfish, marlin, dorado (mahi mahi), and yellowfin tuna.

Located 3.5 hours’ drive northwest of the capital San Jose, Samara is an excellent base for enjoying the unexploited fishing in this unspoilt region of Costa Rica. While fishing is a major draw, Samara also has one of the finest beaches in Costa Rica. This small resort, full of character, also has a good choice of restaurants and bars and offers a range of activities including snorkelling, kayaking, horseback riding, and simply lounging on the beach. The laid-back atmosphere of the town combined with its natural beauty makes it a perfect destination for relaxation.

If you decide to fish in Samara, you'll enjoy not just the thrill of the catch but also the serene environment and rich biodiversity of the area. It truly offers a unique fishing experience!

There is a choice of flights but the British Airways direct flight is an excellent option.

Passports:
Ensure your passport is valid for your trip. Your passport should have at least one day’s validity from the date you are leaving Costa Rica. If you hold a passport other than a British Citizen passport, different regulations may apply.

It is important that you check both your issue date and expiry date on your passport. If you have renewed your passport early in the past, the passport office could have added these extra months to your expiry date. Some countries, particularly in the EU, do not recognise these extra months. You should assume that your passport validity is 10 years from the date of issue.

Holiday Insurance:
It is more important than ever to get comprehensive travel insurance and check it provides sufficient cover. We recommend that you arrange travel insurance as soon as you book your holiday.

Insurance should cover your itinerary, planned activities and expenses in an emergency.
