Fishing is aboard self-drive boats which are comfortable and well equipped. Powered by 130hp Volvo Penta stern drive, the boats will fish four anglers in absolute comfort and safety, even as many as five or six. Each boat is provided with an automatically inflating life raft, 25 watt VHF-DSC radio with built in distress calling facility, A.I.S (Automatic Identification. System) tracking, a quality Garmin fish finder chart plotter, and everything else you need for a safe day afloat. Further, the company insist that each time you set sail you book out with the local coast guard confirming the boat number and how many persons on board, and that you then contact them again on your return to harbour. Top speed was around 18-19knots, with an ideal cruising speed of around 15 knots.
A small pub and restaurant, and a well-stocked shop are close by and all necessary items of tackle can be bought on site, rods and reels are available for hire as are good quality flotation suits.
Transfers are via luxury coach with on-board toilet. This is because of the unreliability of the domestic flight due to adverse weathers conditions.
Outward journey
The coach will depart Keflavik airport at 17:00 (possibly later if the flights are delayed). After approximately 2 hours the coach will make a stop for 30 minutes for clients to have a break and buy some basic provisions if required. The journey takes approximately 7 hours and the coach should arrive at your destination around 23:00.
Return journey
The coach will depart at 08:00. The coach will be of a good standard with toilet on board and a representative from Iceland Sea Angling will be on board to answer questions etc.
Due to flight time changes and check-in procedures clients are required to overnight at Keflavik and book flights to return the day after leaving the fishing centre.
Boat test / induction course is provided to the nominated skipper. It is a simple test and is taken on site during induction on first morning (very easy!) There is a professional fishing guide at each centre - €180 per boat for 8 hours (pay locally). Each boat has an A3 laminated map chart and boat insurance is included. 20kg filleted fish package to bring home €160 (guests may bring their own fish back. Guests must catch, fillet, freeze and supply own packaging). Excess flight baggage charges will apply for the Iceland to UK sector.
