Madeira is an autonomous region of Portugal and was first settled in the 1400s. It has a subtropical climate coastal cliffs and a mountainous interior. Madeira offers stunning scenery and a rich Portuguese influenced culture and history. In the days of sailing ships it was a most important trading point.

Sea fishing is excellent with a peak of pelagic species in the summer months as water temperatures rise and vast bait fish shoals move in close to the coast. Madeira has an excellent reputation for being in the top ten acclaimed blue water fishing destinations.

Species includes: White & Blue Marlin, Big Eye Tuna, Blue Fin Tuna, Yellow Fin Tuna, Spearfish, Dorado and Wahoo.
