Sea fishing in the Mediterranean is exceptional for Bluefin Tuna using baits, spinning and trolling with the best time of year being mid-March to beginning of June and mid-July to mid-November. Bluefish are caught year round and Little Tunnys up to 18 kilos can be caught mid-April to late October. A Mediterranean variant of the common mackerel also provides top sport from mid-April to mid-November. You will also find Sea Bass from mid-April to mid-October and Mahi Mahi (Dorado) from mid-August to mid-November.

Chartered fishing with experienced skippers, who know the local waters well, offers the best chance of success. All the necessary equipment, including fishing rods, bait, and tackle are supplied and they will take you to the best fishing spots. It is crucial to practice responsible and sustainable fishing. Respect catch limits, handle catch and release properly and avoid damaging fragile marine habitats.

The River Ebro offers phenomenal fishing. Plenty of food and excellent living conditions have ensured that there are large numbers of big catfish. You can also fish for Zander and Barbel.

The Ebro Delta is a paradise for nature lovers and offers a unique opportunity to experience Catalonia's natural beauty and biodiversity. Our two featured centres are Riumar & L’ampolla.

Riumar:
A small holiday village right on the Mediterranean Sea and 500 metres from the River Ebro and located approximately 180km south of Barcelona and only 80km from Reus Airport, on the very tip of the Ebro Delta National Nature Park. It is a paradise for anglers, beach lovers, nature lovers and people just looking for a quiet location. There are several restaurants offering a wide range of cuisine in this friendly resort with everything you need. Rafaels is one of our favourites.

We work exclusively with the top skipper and guides Ron and Javi at Roned Sportfishing. They are fully licensed and certificated and operate safe comfortable boats offering excellent guided fishing for Bluefin Tuna. They can also provide good fishing on the nearby River Ebro for giant Wels Catfish and a host of other freshwater species. Freshwater and saltwater fishing are literally at your fingertips! It is an ideal venue for serious anglers and partners/families too.

L'ampolla:
A charming fishing village with the Ebro Delta to the north, known for its beautiful sandy beaches and clear Mediterranean waters. There are numerous restaurants and bars offering delicious local dishes, such as arrossejat (a rice and fish dish) and fresh seafood paella. Reus Airport is a 40-minute drive away and Barcelona or Valencia a 90-minute drive away. It can be reached by car either taxi or car rental.

Martijn van der Samn is a fully qualified professional captain with over 18 years of guiding experience, based in the beautiful coastal town of L'ampolla in Catalonia Spain. His boat is a 29ft open fishing machine, fully equipped for all types of fishing.

Flights:
Please note flights are not included. If you require assistance booking your flights, please call Martins World Travel on Tel: 01246 220020 for the latest information. You are advised to book your flights direct with your chosen airline and pay on your credit card. This gives you maximum protection in the event of an airline failure. Car rental is also required.

Passports:
Ensure your passport is valid for your trip. For travel to Spain your passport must have a date of issue less than 10 years before the date you arrive and have an expiry date at least 3 months after the day you plan to leave.

Passports issued after 1 October 2018 are now valid for only 10 years, but for passports issued before 1 October 2018, extra months may have been added if you renewed a passport early. Some countries, particularly in the EU, do not recognise these extra months. You should assume that your passport validity is 10 years from the date of issue.

Holiday Insurance:
We strongly advise that you take out adequate comprehensive holiday insurance to cover you for the duration of your trip as soon as you book your holiday.
