Sea fishing in the Mediterranean is exceptional for Bluefin Tuna using baits, spinning and trolling with the best time of year being mid-March to beginning of June and mid-July to mid-November. Bluefish are caught year round and Little Tunnys up to 18 kilos can be caught mid-April to late October. A Mediterranean variant of the common mackerel also provides top sport from mid-April to mid-November. You will also find Sea Bass from mid-April to mid-October and Mahi Mahi (Dorado) from mid-August to mid-November.

Chartered fishing with experienced skippers, who know the local waters well, offers the best chance of success. All the necessary equipment, including fishing rods, bait, and tackle are supplied and they will take you to the best fishing spots. It is crucial to practice responsible and sustainable fishing. Respect catch limits, handle catch and release properly and avoid damaging fragile marine habitats.

The River Ebro offers phenomenal fishing. Plenty of food and excellent living conditions have ensured that there are large numbers of big catfish. You can also fish for Zander and Barbel.

The Ebro Delta is a paradise for nature lovers and offers a unique opportunity to experience Catalonia's natural beauty and biodiversity.

Riumar:
A small holiday village right on the Mediterranean Sea and 500 metres from the River Ebro and located approximately 180km south of Barcelona and only 80km from Reus Airport, on the very tip of the Ebro Delta National Nature Park. It is a paradise for anglers, beach lovers, nature lovers and people just looking for a quiet location. There are several restaurants offering a wide range of cuisine in this friendly resort with everything you need. Rafaels is one of our favourites.

We work exclusively with the top skipper and guides Ron and Javi at Roned Sportfishing. They are fully licensed and certificated and operate safe comfortable boats offering excellent guided fishing for Bluefin Tuna. They can also provide good fishing on the nearby River Ebro for giant Wels Catfish and a host of other freshwater species. Freshwater and saltwater fishing are literally at your fingertips! It is an ideal venue for serious anglers and partners/families too.

Flights:
Flights to Reus or Barcelona are not included. We recommend Reus as it is only 40 minutes from the resort of Riumar. Cheap charter flights are available from most regional UK airports to Reus.

Flights are not included. If you require assistance booking your flights, please call Martins World Travel on 01246 220020 for the latest information.

If you are booking your own flights, you are advised to pay on your credit card. This gives you maximum protection in the event of an airline failure.

Car rental or taxi transfers need to be arranged too.

Passports:
Ensure your passport is valid for your trip. For travel to Spain your passport must have a date of issue less than 10 years before the date you arrive and have an expiry date at least 3 months after the day you plan to leave.

Passports issued after 1 October 2018 are now valid for only 10 years, but for passports issued before 1 October 2018, extra months may have been added if you renewed a passport early. Some countries, particularly in the EU, do not recognise these extra months. You should assume that your passport validity is 10 years from the date of issue.

You will be denied entry if you do not have a valid travel document or try to use a passport that has been reported lost or stolen.

Make sure you get your passport stamped on entry and exit. If you’re a visitor, border guards will look at your entry and exit stamps to check you have not overstayed the 90-day visa-free limit for the Schengen area.

Visa:
You can travel without a visa to the Schengen area, which includes Spain, for up to 90 days in any 180-day period. This applies if you travel:
• as a tourist
• to visit family or friends
• to attend business meetings, cultural or sports events
• for short-term studies or training

If you’re travelling to other Schengen countries as well, make sure your whole visit is within the 90-day visa-free limit. Visits to Schengen countries in the 180 days before you travel count towards your 90 days. If you overstay the 90-day visa-free limit, you may be banned from entering Schengen countries for up to 3 years.

At Spanish border control, you may need to show:
• a return or onward ticket
• proof of your travel insurance
• you have enough money for your stay - the amount varies depending on your accommodation
• a hotel booking confirmation or proof of address if you’re staying at your own property
• an invitation or proof of address if staying with a third party, friends or family, such as a ‘carta de invitation’ completed by your hosts

Using the e-gates
Use the desks staffed by border officers. If you’re aged 18 or over, and airport staff instruct you to, you may be able to use e-gates when they are working. If you use an e-gate, make sure you get your passport stamped.

Holiday Insurance:
It is more important than ever to get comprehensive travel insurance and check it provides sufficient cover. We recommend that you arrange travel insurance as soon as you book your holiday.

Insurance should cover your itinerary, planned activities and expenses in an emergency.
