Geraldine Kirwan your host at Keeraun Hill B&B has been welcoming guests since 1991. You can be assured of a friendly Irish welcome and excellent food.
There are five bedrooms; a large double, 2 large bedrooms with 3 single beds, twin room and a bedroom with single and double/twin beds. All rooms are en-suite. The house has a large garden area and patio for visitor’s use and there is ample free parking.
On the doorstep is the River Shannon and there is very accessible fishing on the Shannon network at such famous spots as Meelick Weir, Bullock Island, Salmon Run and for a more restful session, you can try the Grand Canal.
Other attractions close by are Birr Castle, Clonmacnoise Monastic Site and Boora Parklands. Banagher has a selection of pubs and restaurants serving excellent food, some have traditional Irish Music nights.

Fishing in Co Offaly
Coarse fishing in County Offaly, located in the midlands of Ireland, is a rewarding experience for anglers due to its abundant rivers, lakes, and canals.
The River Shannon, Ireland’s longest river, flows through Offaly and offers excellent coarse fishing for bream, roach, perch, pike and tench. Popular centres include Banagher, Shannonbridge and Meelick. Banagher is well-known for its fishing spots that cater to both novice and experienced anglers. There is accessible fishing on the Shannon network at such famous spots as Meelick Weir, Bullock Island and Salmon Run. Banagher Marina provides easy access and is a great spot for roach, bream, and perch. Lusmagh, just south of Banagher offers good bank fishing opportunities for a variety of coarse fish. Meelick, a short distance from Banagher, is known for large bream and pike. There are spring and autumn angling festivals that have exposed the brilliant sport to be had with prime roach, hybrids, specimen tench and big bream.
Shannonbridge, a small town, which sits astride the River Shannon, has plenty of quality fishing and some exciting backwaters. It is a sensible central base for those anglers who enjoy exploring a number of waters. The area around the bridge is a well-known spot for coarse fishing, particularly for bream and roach. Clonmacnoise, located downstream from Shannonbridge, provides excellent bank fishing opportunities and upstream at Shannon Harbour you will find a variety of coarse fish with good access points to the fishing.
Canal fishing can be found on the picturesque reed-fringed Grand Canal, most of which is accessible by car. Around Edenderry, you will find the waterway is alive with tench, bream, rudd, perch and increasing numbers of roach and small carp. Derrinturn Bridge is a quieter spot offering good fishing opportunities and Ticknevin Bridge is another productive area, particularly for tench and bream. Daingean Section, located a short drive from Edenderry is worth exploring.
The River Brosna flows through the county and offers opportunities to catch roach, bream, perch and pike at popular spots such as Clara and Ballycumber. Offaly has several lakes that are excellent for coarse fishing. Lough Boora is known for bream, tench, roach, and pike. Palla Lake is a smaller lake with good stocks of bream, tench, and roach.
Spring and Summer are the best times for coarse fishing, with warmer water temperatures encouraging fish activity. Early mornings and late evenings are particularly productive. Autumn can also be productive, especially for pike as they feed heavily before winter. In Winter fishing is still possible, though activity levels may decrease. Focus on deeper waters where fish tend to congregate. Wherever you fish in Ireland, the chances of catching fish are hugely improved by pre-baiting to attract fish into your chosen swim. Ideally this is done the evening before (or for a couple of days) using breadcrumb or local maize meal carrying particle baits such as sweetcorn, boiled wheat, hemp and pellets. Early morning and late evening are generally more productive as fish tend to feed more actively during these times.
