Norway Fishing Holidays

World-Class Arctic Fishing Adventures in North Norway’s Rich Coastal Waters.

Discover world-class fishing holidays in Norway

A stunning coastline, relatively sheltered fjords and amazing sea fishing for big and prolific Cod, Wolf fish, Halibut, Coalfish, and Haddock. Fishing is on the drift using pirks and shads.

April to October is the main season with the warmer months of late May into early September being the prime time. The sun in Northern Norway never drops below the horizon from late May to early August creating the “LAND OF THE MIDNIGHT SUN”.

Hitra is reached via Trondheim airport and in early spring (March), huge Ling are the target species. In the far north our fishing centres are via Tromso and Alta airports.

Inclusive tailor-made angling holidays

Anglers World Holidays have spent nearly two decades exploring and researching the outstanding sea fishing found in Norway’s northern waters. The prime time to target large coastal cod and halibut runs from spring through to early autumn. During the summer months, as water temperatures rise, large coalfish move into the fjords in impressive numbers. Halibut fishing is typically at its best from July through October.

Fishing these rich, pristine waters is usually done on the drift using pirks and shads, with shads often proving especially effective for catching the biggest cod and halibut. Each fishing centre provides guidance on the most productive marks—of which there are many. Water charts are supplied, and all boats are equipped with echo sounders and chart plotters to help anglers locate the best fishing grounds.

What you can expect to catch on a fishing holiday in Norway

Cod

A popular target for sea anglers, cod are strong fish that can grow very large and are known for powerful fights when hooked.

Coalfish

Known for aggressive strikes and strong fights and are often find them in shoals around wrecks, reefs, and deep water.

Halibut

One of the most prized catches for anglers because of their huge size and incredible strength. Landing a halibut can be a long and challenging fight.

Plaice

Flatfish that live on sandy seabeds, where they bury themselves for camouflage. They are known for subtle bites rather than powerful runs.

Wolffish

Unusual-looking fish with large teeth that live in deep, rocky seabeds and are known for their tough mouths and strong bite.

Haddock

Bottom-feeding fish and a popular catch for sea anglers. While not as powerful as cod, they are still enjoyable to catch.
