Sweden Fishing Holidays
Discover world-class fishing holidays in Sweden
The beautiful Swedish region of Varmland offers superb coarse and predator fishing in a peaceful landscape of crystal-clear lakes, slow-flowing rivers and vast forests. Harefjorden Lake and the Byalven River hold an impressive 37 species of freshwater fish, making the area a fantastic destination for anglers of all abilities.
Coarse anglers can target bream, hybrids, roach, rudd, ide, tench and crucian carp using feeder, float or pole tactics. Predator fishing is equally rewarding, with northern pike, zander, asp and large perch all present. The waters are highly productive, and fishing is available both from the bank and by boat.

Incredible Tench Fishing in Sweden
Join angler Paul Robinson as he embarks on an unforgettable fishing adventure in the heart of South Central Sweden, staying at the picturesque Byalven Cottages.
Explore the scenery, wildlife, and angling adventures that make Sweden a dream destination for fishing holidays.
Flexible and comfortable fishing accommodation
The accommodation consists of two well-furnished, hand-built log cottages set in a stunning lakeside location. Surrounded by forest rich in birdlife, it is common to see deer and moose nearby. At the bottom of the garden there is even an active beaver lodge. Boats can be hired for fishing or exploring the lake, where breeding pairs of osprey and sea eagles are frequently seen.
Fishing licences are available at the cottages and coarse fishing tackle can be supplied by the owner. Stewed wheat is commonly used as a particle feed, while sweetcorn and worms are effective hook baits.
Inclusive tailor-made angling holidays
Byalven Cottages are ideal for both dedicated anglers and families looking for a relaxing outdoor holiday.
We recommend either a fly-drive holiday or travelling by car via Hull to Rotterdam. The ferry crossing is overnight with cabins, followed by a drive through Germany and Denmark into Sweden. As there are no direct car ferries from the UK to Sweden, many visitors choose to include an overnight stop along the route.
Alternatively, fly-drive options via Gothenburg or Oslo are simple and convenient, with approximately a three-hour drive from the airport to the cottages. Flights from the UK are not included.
The area is perfect for both dedicated anglers and families, offering beautiful walks, cycling, horse riding and scenic touring alongside excellent fishing.
