Description

Holiday Park De Scherpenhof offers modern, well-equipped self-catering chalets in a peaceful riverside setting, providing an excellent base for anglers exploring the superb fishing opportunities of the Netherlands.

The spacious chalets are designed with comfort and practicality in mind. Each features a bright, open-plan living area with comfortable seating, a dining table and a fully equipped kitchen complete with hob, microwave, refrigerator and coffee maker.

The chalets offer two or three bedrooms, depending on the accommodation selected, with comfortable beds, ample storage space and modern bathroom facilities including a shower, wash basin and WC. Central heating ensures a comfortable stay throughout the fishing season, while many chalets also benefit from free Wi-Fi and television, allowing guests to relax after a day on the water.

Outside, each chalet has its own furnished terrace or patio where you can enjoy the peaceful surroundings with a morning coffee or an evening meal. Parking is available adjacent to or close to the accommodation, making it easy to load and unload fishing tackle and luggage.

Holiday Park De Scherpenhof offers excellent facilities for all ages. Guests can enjoy a restaurant, café, bar, supermarket, heated indoor swimming pool, outdoor pool (seasonal), children’s play areas, sports facilities and a marina. Fishing:

The nearby River IJssel, one of the Netherlands’ major rivers, is renowned for its excellent coarse fishing – Barbel, chub, ide, bream, carp and roach fishing.  Spring, summer and autumn provides excellent pole and feeder fishing. The Ijssel is a big river that always has flow. The fish ted to shoal up out of the main current behind the many groins created to reduce bank erosion. Feed consistently as you fish, generally about 10 to 15 meters out just on the edge of the flow.

Within easy reach are countless canals, marinas, and lakes of varying size, many offering prolific catches of bream, hybrids, roach, perch and tench. These waters provide plenty of sheltered fishing, making them an ideal alternative.

The nearby River Waal provides another good option for coarse anglers. The Waal is a big river known for its powerful flow and impressive stocks of barbel in addition to chub, bream and other coarse species. The Waal is a favourite destination for anglers looking for larger fish and more challenging conditions.

A heavy ground bait mix with lots of particle is essential. Stewed wheat and sweetcorn are good particles. Float size and weeder weight will depend very much on the flow depending on which water you fish; so be prepared. The area has good local tackle shops too.
